The thing about Change
Humans don't like change. Like hermit crabs, we look for odd shaped shells to accommodate our odd shaped ideas, and once we find something that shelters us, we have a hard time letting go.
But - like a hermit crab, the limitations we teach ourselves, our shell, slowly start to re-shape what we are, how we live, and where we think we're allowed to go.
This is your invitation to change.
You don't have to work for 40 years in corporate, and then end up with your pretty years gone, and no way to sustain yourself for the next 40 years.
You don't have to spend 40% of your day at your job, and travelling to and from your job.
Let's work on re-engineering your life, your limitations, and the shape of things to come.
The Plan
Before we cut, let's measure twice.
Where are you going with your career? With your financial planning? How long do you have to work at the current pace to effectively retire for 40 years?
Or - even more fun, what if you are at the end, or beyond your 40 year career, and you're still grinding to get to the end of the week?
In the planning phase, I'm going to show you strategies to earn, save, and nurture your wealth. No - I'm not a financial advisor, and this is not what you'll be getting at all. I will be showing you the simple answers right in front of you, that you're too hurried to observe. Right now, the first step of planning? Is to take responsibility for the rest of your life.
How you bring the options you see here, into your planning, is entirely up to you.
But you COULD be earning an income in 4 or 5 weeks from now, regardless of your current skill level.
What do you need to do right now?
Easy - just open yourself up to new possibilities.
Drop your shoulders away from your ears, let your tongue back down to from the roof of your mouth, and allow yourself to dream.
Becoming employable
If you're good at writing, and typing, you're ahead on points.
If you're good at drawing and designing, you're ahead on points.
If you're good at talking to people, either one-on-one or in groups, you're ahead on points.
If you're good at explaining things to people, you're ... yes... ahead on points.
If you've ever coded something before, you're already rocking it.
If you're not afraid of working through video training or text books at high velocity, you're head and shoulders above the rest.
Now that you have heard that, in our team, of my wife and I, one of us is an introvert to the point of being a hermit, one of us is dyslexic, one of us HATES learning through video or text, one of us has the graphic skills of a carrot.
So while you're looking at the list above, it's really as easy as making a list of the things you excel at, and then adding to the same list, the things you love doing, the things you enjoy spending time on, the things you're willing to stretch to without causing yourself a rash.
Once you look at the longer list, let's talk about online training, and about plotting a course to selling your skills online.
Currencies
I'm going to come out and say it.
If you're still stuck in conventional earning methods, you're probably still stuck in conventional currencies.
Take a deep breath. I'm going to talk to you about Crypto. I don't speak to you as a financial advisor - i'm not one of those. I speak to you as someone who finds it ridiculous that everything around you - your laptop, your shoes, your cell phone - used to be money, and that all the money you have, or had, used to be your time. Time is the one thing, as every over-40 person will tell you - of which we have a very limited supply, and spending it on someone else's agenda in a corporate environment, only to see it devalue as your own agendas get passed by, is infuriating.
I was explaining to my 8-year old this morning how money in one country is worth more than money in another country. It boils down to an hour's work in the United States of America is worth a day and a half's work in South Africa. And when I said that, it hit me. It's ludicrous to earn money in a currency that doesn't serve you. We're going to talk about earning in USD and GBP as well as EUR, and Crypto, and about valuing your time.
So yes, I'm going to tell you what I do, how I do it, and you can make up your very own mind.
Family, Fun and Friendship
Many years ago, when I was a teenager, my favourite brother told me that even if you have a house, and a car, and a business, and enough money to do whatever you like, if you have nobody with whom to share your wealth, it is worthless.
I've been on the other side of the coin too, where I have a family, but no resources at all whatsoever.
I can tell you from experience that neither of the situations is desirable, and neither will help you sleep at night.
So - what do you do? In your plan for your future, make space for the Family, Fun and Friendship components, and make space for the Wealth, Adventure and Fulfillment components. In the hours you allocate, make space. In the resources you allocate, make space. In how you have fun creating wealth, in the adventure of family and the fulfillment of friendships - make space.
When you start planning your new, changed future, don't for a moment think that you have to work so hard for just a little bit of time so that you can have more later. It doesn't work that way.
From the very beginning, live the life that you choose to manifest - if not in how you spend and relax, then definitely in how you allocate time, and care, and kindness.
So let's get cracking, create a new future that is in balance, in harmony, and that satiates all your appetites.
